The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has been making great milestones in promoting education in the region.
As part of its efforts to improve teaching and learning, the commission has donated learning materials to learners at JAURO Abare Primary School in Gombe.
These materials included a Morden white board along with a cartoon of makers. To the students, school bags containing rulers, exercise books, sharpeners, pencils, and other important materials, as well as shoes, clothes, were all donated in the presence of NEDC's teams, SUBEB, the local government inspector of education, and school administrators, among others.
During the distribution of these materials, the State Acting Coordinator of the NEDC, Alhaji Rufai Lawan Babamanu, spoke about the commission's special interventions in the education sector.
Babamanu highlights that the commission is working tirelessly to contribute more to education in the region, especially in the state, and this will go along the way to address the problems facing the education sector.
Similarly, Babamanu also announced that the commission will be considering special awards and gifts for students who perform excellently during school activities.
He called on the teachers to instill a reading culture in the students, which no doubt will promote learning.
In response to the donation, the Headmaster of Jauro Kuna School, Mallam Umar Usman, expressed his appreciation for the commission's quick interventions by surprising the school and students with learning materials.
He commended the commission and its management for doing a great job and noted that the donation came at a time when many parents in the area cannot afford to buy important materials for their children.
The headmaster of the school assured the coordinator that they would work hard to improve learning in the school, in line with what the acting coordinator insisted.
With the support of organizations like the NEDC, the future of education in the North East region looks bright.
